A 28-year-old man was killed when an SUV collided with a car in west Macon early Saturday morning.

It happened on Mercer University Drive near the River Bend Apartments and the Macon Mall.

Bibb County coroner Leon Jones says a Nissan Sentra turned into the path of a SUV.

The four men in the Nissan were injured. A 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The others were taken to a hospital.

Jones says they had to cut the victims out of the vehicle.

The coroner will release the victim's name after he notifies the family.

In a second accident, police say a car ran into the back of a Ford Ranger on Interstate 75.

Macon police say a 21-year-old man got out of his truck in the right hand lane to check an engine that he said overheated.

The car collided into the stalled vehicle.

The 21-year old went to the hospital but police say he had non-life-threatening injuries.
