ATLANTA (AP) - A former federal prison doctor has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting inmates who came to him for treatment.
Dr. Lewis Jackson appeared before a federal judge in Atlanta Monday to plead guilty to three counts of sexually abusing inmates who were under his supervision. He is out on bond and is set to be sentenced in February.
Prosecutors say the 36-year-old Jackson worked at the federal penitentiary in Atlanta from January 2011 through July of this year. They say he tried to perform sex acts on three male inmates in October 2011.
Jackson was charged in July in superior court in Washington, D.C., with three counts of sexually abusing an inmate there in 2008. He was out on bond in that case when he was arrested in Atlanta.
