One man will lead the way in bringing more businesses to Macon.
Thursday morning the Industrial Authority and the Macon Economic Development Commission announced their new partnership, with Pat Topping as the point man.
This comes around a year and a half after the two groups split ways.
Topping says recombining their efforts will help recruit more companies and make the process easier for business owners.
He says, "What projects and companies want us to operate at is at the speed of business, and I think this new relationship will allow us to do that."
As head of the Economic Development Commission, Topping's job was to reach out to companies and market the city. Then, the Industrial Authority would take over and persuade them with incentives and public money.
Now, Topping will have a hand in all of it.
Topping's resume includes projects like recruiting the Kohl's Distribution Center, Bass Pro Shop, and Tractor Supply.
He says he mainly focuses his efforts in six divisions: logistics, shared services, aerospace, automotives, food products, and manufacturing.
