An Eatonton police officer and his wife are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from people who paid them for gravestones.
That's according to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills.
He said 39-year-old Clint Steve Perrin and 34-year-old Michelle V. Perrin were arrested Thursday.
They each face two felony counts of theft by conversion and two misdemeanor counts, for cases that involved less than $500.
He said at least four people paid the couple between May and September and got nothing.
One gravestone cost $3,900, he said, another $1,500 and two cost less than $500.
One other person has filed a complaint, Sills says, and there may be more charges.
Sills says the couple ran a gravestone company, Perrin Monuments, as a side business, and the case is not connected to Steve Perrin's Eatonton police duties.
