Alexis Thomas is the first baby born in 2013, in central Georgia.
Her parents are Maurice and Sheila Thomas, of Macon.
They welcomed their baby girl at 10:36 Tuesday morning, at the Coliseum Medical Center.
Alexis weighs 6 pounds and 12 ounces, and she's 19 inches long.
Her parents weren't expecting for her to arrive on New Year's Day.
They say being born on New Year's Day has its perks.
The Coliseum staff provided a few things for baby Alexis.
"The gave me a basket of blankets. They gave her a bear, t-shirts and a cup," said Sheila Thomas.
Alexis has four siblings.
