Macon State College and Middle Georgia College in Cochran could become one college on Tuesday. The University System of Georgia's Board of Regents will vote Tuesday to merge the two schools into Middle Georgia State College.
But at the Macon State College bookstore, they already have new merchandise out with the consolidated name, Middle Georgia State College just before the beginning of the semester.
For some students, it was a surprise to see the change.
"It's kind of strange to come in and see the hoodies over there with MGSC on it. It's a little different, you know. You have been here for three years, and you expect to see MSC. But I guess everything goes through changes," said Ashley Zoltack a Macon State student.
"It was. I was not expecting it to be today, but it was nice and they got a lot of nice, really really cute things," said
Tiffany Everidge, a graduating senior at Macon State.
But you can still find Macon State College merchandise at the campus bookstore at a 75 percent marked down price, which some students are taking advantage of despite the name change.
"When you are a college student, it's all about saving money especially when you just quit your job today, so you can go to college," said Maria Rojas a new Macon State College student.
