Tampa, Florida (WTSP) --
Update: Deputies say Bueller the French Bulldog has been found safe and returned to his owner.
A citizen found Bueller Saturday morning at about 9:30 a.m. in his front yard. He was in the process of making flyers when he heard news reports about the dog's alleged abduction.
Police say a man taking his dog for a walk was held up by two men at gunpoint. The robbers' only target: Bueller the bulldog.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, 27-year-old Derek McComber was walking Bueller toward Pinehurst Drive when a gray 90's model Honda Civic up on the side of the road.
Hillsborough deputies say a man got out of the car and asked McComber what kind of dog Bueller was. After McComber told him Bueller was a French bulldog, the man pulled out a gun and replied, "Well, I'm taking it."
The suspect scooped up Bueller and then backed away, returning to the Civic. The car then fled from the scene at a high rate of speed.
Investigators did not release a good description of the suspects, only that there were two white males in the Civic, both wearing a black hoodie and dark pants. Only one was seen with a handgun.
Bueller is 25 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black and green collar with no tags. The dog is mostly black, with a white belly and white paws.
