ATLANTA (AP) - Construction workers responding to an ad for jobs say they have been scammed.
WSB-TV reports dozens of construction workers responded to a Craigslist posting promising two-year job openings across the country. The television station reports that a local employment agency known as Everything Staffing assembled a group of workers for a subcontractor called Black Sparta LLC., which agreed to provide food, gas money and lodging for workers in Columbia, Mo.
Would-be contractors said when they arrived in Missouri, they were told their services were not needed and ended up stranded at a motel they had to pay for.
A phone number could not be located for Black Sparta LLC. The company's address as listed with the Georgia Secretary of State appears to be that of an Extended Stay hotel.
