What happened to the Carnival Triumph shouldn't stop you from going on your next cruise but you should do your research before boarding ship.
Travel agent, Deborah Adler, provided tips on choosing your next overseas vacation.
She says before you do anything, you have to know what kind of traveler you are and what you want: a packed party ship or a more restful cruise.
"Travel agents don't only sell cruises, but qualify you. Are you a first timer? Do you want to try out three or four nights before you go on to like a seven night or more," she says.
For people researching on their own Adler suggests using the website, tripadvisor, as a good place to start.
"People are writing about their experiences so you have to take that into consideration. If a ship that you're looking at has maybe 1 out of 10 negative comments, that's ok. But if it's 50-50, then it's a cause to be concerned about," says Adler.
When in doubt, choose a cruise line with a good reputation. Adler suggests Carnival or Caribbean.
