Eight people were wounded, one of them critically, in a shooting inside a Macon home early Sunday.

A Macon police news release says it happened around 3:45 a.m. at 2856 Mercer University Drive. That's near Grosso Avenue.

Police say the victims were shot by one or possibly two people. They did not release any further details or descriptions of the shooters.

They say they are interviewing witnesses both at the home and at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

One victim received a critical wound in the thigh, police say.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said some victims were transported by ambulance and some took their own vehicles to the ER.

Anyone with information on the case can call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
