Macon city council member Charles Jones put his name in the hat for the district eight seat for the consolidated commission.
So far, he's the only one running for that post.
Jones has served on council for 12 years and chaired several committees. Now he says he wants to "be at the table" as the new government takes over.
His biggest concerns are employee pensions and cleaning up blight around the community.
Jones says he also wants to help with the new government's opportunity to rebuild a stronger community.
"I don't care who puts 'Humpty Dumpty' back together as long as I'm there with them, and they can tell me put a piece here, there. As long as 'Humpty Dumpty' looks like 'Humpty Dumpty' when we're finished. As long as Macon looks like what we envision her to look like, a thriving, educated, safe, economic city."
District eight covers parts of central Macon from Gray Highway to I-475.
