Susanne Griffin-Ziebart will run Bibb County schools as acting superintendent for another 30 days, until May 1.
The Bibb school board made that announcement Monday afternoon after a closed-door meeting of about two hours. They approved the extension for the assistant superintendent by a 6-2 vote, with board members Jason Downey and Lester Miller opposed.
The board bought out Superintendent Romain Dallemand's contract in February.
The application deadline for the interim job ends April 12th, and acting board president Susan Sipe says she hopes the board will be able to choose a candidate soon after.
After the Griffin-Ziebart announcement just after noon, the board met privately for another two hours, then ended their meeting without further news.
Meanwhile, the search continues for the permanent head of the district. Board members are filling out surveys this week to pitch their thoughts on qualifications for the new leader.
Sipe says a similar survey will also go out to the community, but she does not know when.
The Georgia School Board Association, who is heading up the search, will use the survey responses to create a brochure that will be sent out to potential candidates.
