Police found the body of a 26-year-old woman in a wooded area of Fairground Boulevard in North Houston County Tuesday afternoon, says Captain Jon Holland in a news release.
The body had "visible injuries" that investigators believe took place at another location before the body was moved.
The woman was last seen Monday around two o'clock in the afternoon driving a 2006 Ford Fusion, dark brown in color with a Georgia tag number HU58HJ.
Police need the public's help locating this vehicle. If anyone knows of its whereabouts, officials ask you call Sgt. Joe Middlebrooks or Lt. Dave Carrick at the Houston County Sheriff's Office, or Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
Police are not releasing the identity of the woman until her family is notified, and the medical examination is complete.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office, Macon Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigations are assisting the Houston County Sheriff's Office in the case.
An anonymous call was placed to the 911 center around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, informing them of the body.
