Brandon Sharod Davis has been charged with felony murder in the death of 26-year-old Chassity LaShundra Lester.
Davis turned himself in to the Houston County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning. The charge came several hours later from the Macon Police Department, because investigators believe the crime may have happened in Macon.
Lester's sister said the two have a child together.
Davis' body was examined and the GBI Crime Lab discovered that the victim died of "multiple sharp and blunt force trauma," according to a Houston County Sheriff's Office news release.
Police believe Lester was killed at a house on the 3000 block of Flamingo Drive in South Macon and later dumped in a wooded area off of Fairgrounds Road in North Houston County.
A Macon woman says she notified police after she returned home this weekend and found blood all over the back porch.
Investigators searched the home early Wednesday morning in connection to the body of a 26-year-old woman found in Houston County Tuesday afternoon.
Capt. Jon Holland with the Houston County Sheriff's Office says the case has been turned over to the Macon Police Department because they uncovered evidence that revealed the crime happened in Macon.
He said Macon police are investigating the case as a possible homicide.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office, Macon Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigations are assisting the Houston County Sheriff's Office in the case.
It all started with an anonymous call was placed to the Houston 911 center around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, informing them of the body, according to Holland.
Tuesday night, Houston County officials said the woman was found in a wooded area near Fairgrounds Road, but appeared to have been killed elsewhere.
Police located the vehicle Lester was last seen driving near the crime scene in South Macon.
Lester's sister said the crime was "an act of jealousy, but I never thought this would happen."
