ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - First lady Michelle Obama says a Maryland measure to help military personnel and their spouses find jobs is one of the best bills of its kind in the country.

Obama spoke Wednesday in Annapolis at a bill signing ceremony with Gov. Martin O'Malley.

The first lady says Maryland's measure helps veterans get credentials and college credit for work they have done in the service. It also streamlines the process to help military spouses get professional licenses as they transfer from another state.

Earlier in the day, the first lady visited the nearby U.S. Naval Academy. She told about 4,000 midshipmen that she and President Barack Obama were working hard for them, just as they do for the country.
