One woman is dead after she was hit by a street sweeper at the intersection of Eisenhower Parkway and Key Street in Macon.

That's according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.

She has been identified by Bibb coroner Leon Jones as 22-year-old Kenyotta Jones of Beech Avenue in Macon near Central High School.

Jones said the accident happened just after 1 a.m.  Police says Jones was in the right lane of Eisenhower Parkway near Loosier's Furniture when she was hit.

The woman was not carrying identification at the time of the accident, but was described as having the names "Shay" tattooed on her right arm and "Derrick" on her left arm.

Macon police investigators interviewed the driver of the street sweeper. The driver is not being charged at this time, according to the news release, and volunteered a blood sample after the accident.

Police say the woman was wearing all black clothing in an area without street lighting when she was hit.
