Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation honored Governor Nathan Deal and legislators that serve Houston County for supporting the Central Georgia community during the 2013 legislative session.
Governor Deal and his team brought over $25 million to the area, including a new health sciences center at Middle Georgia Tech and the Gateway Center, which will provide training and support for military members and veterans.
The mayors of Centerville, Warner Robins and Perry were all in attendance, as well as several council members and county leaders.
"I think it's important that states like Georgia show their support for the military. We're willing to do our part on the state level and the local community level to be as supportive as possible. I think these are the kinds of things that will be looked at should we have another BRAC and hopefully the Pentagon will take due notice of the fact that we're willing to spend our own money, we're willing to be supportive of the military and their families." says Governor Nathan Deal.
The college plans to break ground on the Health Sciences facility and the Gateway Center next year.
