The Bibb County School Board Monday night did not pass its proposed budget.
When members voted, Ella Carter, Thelma Dillard, Tom Hudson and Wanda West voted in favor of the budget. Jason Downey, Lynn Farmer, Lester Miller, and Sue Sipe voted against.
That's according to Downey, who then proposed a temporary solution in the form of a one-month spending resolution.
That would buy board members more time, while allocating a twelfth of the previous year's budget on which the district will operate for the next month as details are sorted out.
In a second vote, the one-month resolution passed 5-3. This time, Downey told 13WMAZ, Thelma Dillard was the swing vote.
The board will now have until the end of July to vote again on the full budget, or opt to pass another spending resolution.
