TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - State environmental officials say about 90,000 gallons of sewage has spilled into the ocean off the Tybee Island coast.

Officials from the Environmental Protection Division say the spill is linked to a sewage line that ruptured Monday and has since been repaired.

Water in the area has been tested by the Department of Natural Resources and officials say they found normal levels of bacteria.

David Lyle, of the Environmental Protection Division, tells WSAV-TV natural flushing has happened since the affected water is in a tidal area.

State officials are expected to continue testing the water.
