A Macon demolition crew is getting ready to tear down the walls of the old "El Azteca" restaurant.
Georgia Environmental Group, Inc., started site preparations today for tearing down the former Mexican restaurant on Tom Hill Senior Boulevard.
El Azteca closed in 2011, and the building has been empty since then.
Crews sorted through furniture and recyclable metals this morning.
"We are removing any salvageable or recyclables from inside and also outside," said Georgia Environmental Services President Casey Bullington. "We expect to have the majority of recyclables out by the end of the day, and the bulk of the demo will start hopefully tomorrow mid-day."
The demolition is expected to take eight to ten days.
A Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant will be built on the property by the end of this year.
