A woman was hurt when her car caught fire in East Macon Tuesday morning. Sergeant Gleaton with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department said the driver was heading north on Gray Highway when the car stalled.
She managed to get it started and pulled into the Arby's parking lot. Gleaton said it looked like a mechanical problem started the fire. The driver suffered burns to her leg and back.
The fire destroyed the car and damaged the Arby's sign. A man working at the car wash next door saw it happen.
"I saw just a huge puff of black smoke. And so I ran over, hopped over to look over the fence, and there was a car completely lit on fire. It looked like the engine came through and was burning the whole vehicle up," said Clint Harrison.
