(CBS NEWS) - House Speaker John Boehner has said it before and he'll say it again: Obamacare must go.
"Obamacare is bad for America," Boehner said in an interview with CBS News' Bob Schieffer, set to air in full on "Face the Nation," Sunday, July 21. "We're going to do everything we can to make sure that it never happens."
Despite the apparent lack of traction generated by nearly 40 prior repeal votes, Boehner defended the House's continued drive to undo the president's signature domestic accomplishment.
"If Obamacare was workable, why did the president announce that he wasn't going to enforce the employer mandate?" he asked. The White House announced earlier in July that it would delay the implementation of the law's employer mandate by a year. The mandate, which requires businesses with more than 50 employees to provide health insurance to those employees, was delayed for a year to provide businesses more time to adjust to the law's reporting requirements.
"Why did the White House decide that 'Well, we're not going to verify people's income when they come to the exchanges.'?" Boehner added. "Why? Because they can't."
On Wednesday evening, the House voted to delay both the employer mandate and the individual mandate, which requires those without health insurance to buy it, by one year. Republicans argued that individuals as well as businesses deserved a reprieve from the law's requirements. The Senate is not expected to take up the House's measure, and the president has said he would veto it if it reaches his desk.
On Thursday, President Obama defended the law's rollout, acknowledging "glitches" but noting that consumers are already seeing savings as a result of provisions in Obamacare.

The law, the president said, is "doing what it's designed to do - deliver more choices, better benefits, a check on rising costs."
