Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies who were assisting with traffic at the Canton school noticed the suspicious man at around 7:30 a.m., according to Sheriff's Lt. Jay Baker.

When deputies approached him, the man turned and ran, but was quickly caught. He was identified as 31-year-old Todd Christopher Grigg of Woodstock.

Baker said investigators found three knives, leather gloves and a BB gun resembling a semi-automatic handgun on Grigg.

Grigg told police he was waiting for a ride at the school, which two of his family members attend. He said he ran because he knew he was carrying weapons on school property.

He is being held without bond in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on charges of obstruction, carrying a concealed knife and possessing weapons on school grounds.
