Monroe Deputy Hit while Directing Traffic on I-75

Early Sunday morning just after midnight, a Monroe County deputy was hit by a car while assisting with an accident on I-75. That's according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy T. Campfield was directing traffic after an accident near mile marker 185 on I-75. That's when another vehicle hit him and his patrol car, the Monroe sheriff's office said in a statement.

Deputy Campfield was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver was taken to Coliseum Hospital.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
