A 21-year-old man is in the hospital after he and his dog were hit by a police car.
A Macon police officer was driving down Eisenhower Parkway, toward the Bloomfield Road intersection, according to a release. That's near the Macon Mall and the Macon Flea Market.
As he began to change lanes from right to left, and pass another car, there was a man walking in the middle of the lane as the officer approached the intersection.
The officer was unable to swerve in time and hit the man and the dog he was carrying.
The man was taken to the Medical Center Hospital and is in stable condition, according to the release.
The dog died from injuries.
The officer was also taken to the hospital and had blood drawn as part of the investigation and checked out for injuries.
