Following a three vehicle accident in August, the Georgia State Patrol has arrested and charged a Macon man with the death of a Laurens County woman.
37-year-old Eddie Lee Carswell was charged with second degree vehicular homicide and following too closely in connection with the crash on August 20.
Gordy Wright, spokesman with GSP, said 66-year-old Joyce T. Graham died in a Macon hospital following injuries she received in the accident.
Wright said Carswell was arrested Aug. 21.
Wright told 13WMAZ that on the evening of Aug. 20, Carswell's 18-wheeler hit Graham's 2007 Hyundai Sonata from behind, on U.S. 29, near Bush Lane.
The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team investigated the wreck, Wright said.
According to GSP records, Graham was driving north on U.S. 29 when she stopped to allow another vehicle turn right onto Bush Lane. The 18-wheeler then hit Graham from behind.
A third vehicle, a Toyota, was damaged by debris from the contact between the 18-wheeler and the Hyundai.
The Laurens County Sheriff's Department said Carswell is out of jail on a $10,000 bond and was released Aug. 22.
