A 34-year-old white male was struck by a train near Vineville Avenue in Macon around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to Macon police.
He was transported to the hospital immediately, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say they have no further details on why the man was near the tracks.
"That's part of our investigation," Jami Gaudet, public information officer, says. "We'll find out what the conductor of the train did. We'll find out what the man was doing when he was struck, and why he was so close to the train."
Both Macon police and Norfolk Southern Railway are investigating.
By 10:30 a.m., the scene was clear, and the train resumed its usual route.
