Summer may be winding down, but barbeques are still firing up in Fort Valley this weekend. Over 30 teams from across Georgia will be judged on their pulled pork, pork tenderloin and ribs. It's all part of the 8th Annual Hambone Jam.
The event kicks off Friday and goes through Saturday, but some cooking teams are starting to pull in today.
We talked to Kerry Sparks, a pit master from Brunswick. She says she's ready for the judges to taste what comes off her BBQ grill.
"Our best is in pulled pork and it's usually a sweet followed by a little bit of a heat and it gives you that last punch you know and it makes it just right that one perfect bit is really good," said Sparks.
On Friday, the cooking teams will fire up the grills and Saturday the judges will taste the meat. The event is free to attend.
While you can't sample the meat cooked up by the competitors meat, vendors will sell competitive style BBQ for the public. They will also have concerts Friday night is the Mossy Creek Players and Saturday at 1:30 the Mighty Mighty HamTones.
