Firefighters with the Macon-Bibb fire department are asking you to run, ride and play for Eric John.
John is a Bibb firefighter that was struck by a car on Interstate 75 while assisting an accident.
Several groups are coming together for a fundraiser Saturday to help pay for John's medical expenses. They started Friday night smoking boston butts.
Ryan Sinyard with Pig Dynasty, a competition cook team out of Warner Robins says all the barbecue was donated, and they'll be smoking them all night.
"They're between eight and ten pounds a piece we've got thirty-eight or forty on this grill and another seventeen or eighteen on that grill. As the night goes we'll turn them and spray them and keep them at temperature." explains Sinyard
The event starts Saturday morning at 8AM with a pancake breakfast.
There will be a 5K run and a motorcycle benefit ride.
Bands will be playing all day and those boston butts will be served on barbecue plates for 7 dollars. All money raised will go to help fireman Eric John.
There will be clowns, face painting, balloon animals and bouncy houses for the kids.
The event is at the Macon-Bibb Co. fire department at 1191 First Street in downtown Macon.
