Thousands of people enjoyed a celebration of native american culture at the Ocmulgee National Monument, Saturday.

20 Native American tribes were represented through traditional dance, storytelling, and art.

Organizers say more than 300 native people are participating in the celebration this year.

They're using encampment setups to teach visitors about current and past practices.

Diamond Brown has showcased Cherokee culture at the event several times.  He said, "For a long time people had that mindset due to TV and Hollywood that Indians are bad people. So we try to break that."

The Ocmulgee Indian Celebration will continue Sunday.  The event runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Ocmulgee National Monument.
