The 16-year-old boy accused of shooting another teen to death Friday was seen by a witness running away from the scene saying it was an accident.
According to a Macon police incident report, a witness observed the juvenile running away after 13-year-old Marquez Blount was shot in the face.
The witness told police he heard the suspect say "I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to," before he ran away, the report stated.
Blount died the following day after being shot.
The 16-year-old was arraigned Monday morning in Bibb County court.
Investigators were able to find the juvenile, and he was read his rights in front of his parents. He showed police where he threw the gun but police didn't find it, the report stated.
Blount was shot at a home on Cleveland Street in south Macon Friday night and died Saturday at the hospital.
Witnesses say the teens were handling the gun when it discharged.
Blount was conscious when an officer arrived on the scene and tried to sit up, the report stated.
The suspect in being housed at the Bibb County Regional Youth Detention Center. He was initially charged with possession of a firearm by a person under age 18 and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number. Additional charges are expected.
