AUSTELL, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County police say speed was a factor in an early-morning crash that killed three people in Austell.
Department spokesman Mike Bowman says a silver, 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling well over the speed limit Sunday morning when the driver lost control while trying to enter a right curve.
Bowman says the car veered off the road and slammed into a tree.
Police say the driver, 20-year-old Michael Haynes of Austell, was pronounced dead on the scene. Bowman says passengers, 24-year-old Jacolby Lowe and 21-year-old Jerod Lowe, both of Marietta, were also pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities say there's no evidence that alcohol factored in to the crash. Still, Bowman says drug and alcohol testing will be included in the Cobb County Medical Examiner's investigation.
