Groups Holding School-Supply Giveaways

Some Central Georgia groups will hold events in the next few weeks offering school supplies for students.

Macedonia Church at 600 Eisenhower Parkway presents the event Love in Action, featuring a supplies giveaway. According to organizer Eileen Straws, the annual event will be held Saturday July 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Love in Action requires registration the day of the event. The Milledgeville-based women's motorcycle club, Secret Petals, will hold their 4th annual back to school event Sunday July 26, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. . It takes place at Huley Park off Jefferson Street.


The Mentors Project will hold its annual Back To School Supply Giveaway on Aug. 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at these Bibb County schools, Appling Middle School at 1210 Shurling Drive, Ballard-Hudson Middle School at 1070 Anthony Road and Miller Middle School at 751 Hendly Street.


Tremont Temple Church located at 5263 Bloomfield Rd. will host their school supply giveaway on Aug. 8 beginning at 10 a.m.


Macon Evangelistic Church plans on giving the first 96 kids a free selection of school supplies at their Back to School Bash Saturday, Aug. 8, starting at noon. The event will take place at 4500 Chapel Hill Drive and more information is available through email at or by calling 478-788-9221.


People looking to donate can bring school supplies and canned goods to Third Street Park in downtown Macon on Friday July 31, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The drive is sponsored by Volunteer Macon, Learning Partners Adult Literacy Program, Youth Volunteer Corps of Macon & Middle Georgia and the Drug Free Coalition. All collected items will benefit the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.
