A judge Thursday sentenced a Dodge County man to life for beating his wife to death with a hammer last year.
District Attorney Tim Vaughn says a jury deliberated for about 25 minutes Thursday afternoon before convicting Michael McNair of murder.
He was charged with killing 48-year-old Peggy McNair in February 2009 while his own 22-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old grandchild slept in a nearby room.
Judge Sarah Wall then handed down the life sentence, according to Vaughn, district attorney for the Oconee Judicial Circuit.
The trial began Wednesday morning at the Dodge County Courthouse in Eastman.
