Hopefully, Russell Henley likes the beach.
He'll see nothing but beautiful seaside views and white sands; it just may happen to be out of bounds cliffs and bunkers at the Pebble Beach Golf Links next week in the U.S. Open.
Yes, that U.S. Open.
Tied for seventh after the first round, Henley roared to an 8-under 64 in his second trip through Ansley Golf Club's Settindown Creek Course, finishing five shots ahead of second place.
His second round was the best of the day by four shots. He carded nine birdies, with his only blemish coming on the par-3 12th hole, which he bogeyed both rounds.
Only two spots were available to the 28 golfers that competed; Henley won his spot outright, and will be joined by Savannah's Mark Silvers. Silvers earned his spot by winning a playoff against Chris Epperson of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Eric Reeves, out of Gray, finished 21st after going 79-78 to finish the day at thirteen over par.
