Jessie James III
Police say a Macon man is dead after his son stabbed and killed him Wednesday morning.
Jessie James, Jr., 62, of Macon was stabbed around 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to a police news release. It happened at 3943 Gadson Drive off Bloomfield Road.
Police spokewoman Jamie Gaudet says Jessie James Jr.'s son, 29-year-old Jessie James III, is charged with murder.
The two were arguing and got into a fight, then the son stabbed his dad with a knife, according to the news release. The son first left the scene after the stabbing but returned to the home, where investigators were working the scene.
That's when police took him into custody.
James Jr. was pronounced dead at the Medical Center of Central Georgia just before 7 a.m., said county coroner Leon Jones.
Henry Jones lives in the neighborhood and says he was shocked "that something would happen in this neighborhood. This is a fairly close-knit community."
He described James Jr. as a quiet man who was involved in the neighborhood association and lived in the Gadson Drive home for more than 20 years.
