Macon police have charged Aurie Bonner III, 31, with murder in the death of Christine Patton Cook. 

Cook, 87, was found dead in her home on General Lee Drive last Thursday, Oct. 18. According to an autopsy, Cook was smothered.

Her car was found 500 feet from her home.  

Bonner is being held at the Bibb County Jail. Police say there could be more charges filed in the case.

District Attorney Greg Winters says Bonner is the son of Cook's former yard man and often helped his father with work around her home.
