Cobb juvenile therapist charged for allegedly distributing child porn, grooming victims

Documents show the worker confessed to possession of child porn and grooming underage males for later sexual contact.

MARIETTA, Ga. – A Cobb County psychiatric staff member who has worked with children as young as 11 has been arrested and charged with possession of child porn, authorities confirmed Monday.

The FBI said William Boyd of Marietta, Georgia was caught distributing the unthinkable – especially when his profession is taken into account.

Boyd was previously a staff member of the nonprofit, Devereaux Advanced Behavioral Health in Kennesaw, Georgia. There, his job was to interact with children with psychiatric or extreme behavioral issues.

Federal agents said they arrested Boyd as part of an online sting operation where he allegedly joined a chat room called "Boy Link Only" – a group known to investigators for sharing child pornography.

Searching his Cobb County apartment, the FBI said they found numerous graphic images of little boys in compromising poses on his hard drives. But what's even more disturbing is what investigators said Boyd admitted to doing at work.

In the criminal complaint obtained by 11Alive News, Boyd allegedly confessed to investigators that he was "grooming two 16-year-old males at Devereaux for the purpose of having sexual contact with them when they graduated."

According to those documents, he also confessed to "being sexually aroused when restraining juvenile males in his normal course of work at Devereux."

Staff members said they are called upon to do that when their clients become violent.
