ATLANTA - A man accused of entering a home, kidnapping and shooting at a family is on the run.

Atlanta Police said the brazen string of crimes began early Monday morning at the family's residence on the 900 block of Katherwood Drive.

The male victim told police he, his girlfriend and her son were asleep when he heard noise coming from the kitchen. He thought it was the son making the noise, so he called his name, but no one answered.

Moments later, he said a man opened the bedroom door and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at he and his girlfriend.  The gunman demanded their wallets, computers and cell phones.  At gunpoint, the family was then forced outside to the driveway where the suspect made the male victim tie up his girlfriend's hands with a  bed sheet. They got inside the family's Honda Accord and was ordered to drive to the nearest ATM - a Texaco, located at 1974 Sylvan Road.

When they arrived at the gas station, the suspect told everyone to get out of the car. That's when the woman took off running behind the building. The gunman ran after her.  In an attempt to stop the gunman from chasing his girlfriend, the male victim started driving after them, but ended up crashing into a pole in the parking lot. That's when the suspect opened fire on the vehicle with the man and child still inside. They were not injured.

The shooter fled the scene and ran down Perkerson Rd. Investigating officers recovered three shell casings from the service station parking lot.

Meanwhile officers processing the scene where the home invasion happened noticed the rear window A/C unit had been removed and placed on the ground which left a large opening into the residence. A screwdriver was also located on the floor by the backdoor which looked as if someone had pried it open. The male victim says their 50 inch TV is missing from the living room. He described the assailant as a black man who is 18-25 years old.
