Police seize drugs, guns during 'Orange Crush'

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - Tybee Island police say they confiscated drugs and guns and made several arrests Friday and Saturday as the second straight weekend of the unofficial Orange Crush spring break gathering got underway.

Tybee Police Chief Bob Bryson said officers seized methamphetamine, marijuana, crack and pills as well as seven guns overnight Friday and early Saturday.

Bryson told The Savannah Morning News that a dozen people had been arrested by Saturday afternoon.

The police chief said incidents that resulted in arrests included burglary, entering autos and gun possession.

Officers also caught partygoers walking around drinking prescription cough syrup and broke up several fights, including a large one in front of Beachside Colony.

The annual party is called together via social media and word of mouth.
