Jones County Schools to release early for solar eclipse

Protecting your eyes from the eclipse

The Jones County School System announced Monday it would be on an early release schedule for the day of the solar eclipse, Monday, August 21.

They said they came to that decision out of safety concerns for students and staff and so parents could experience the eclipse with their children – whether it be in Jones County or farther north in Georgia.

A news release says students will be considered unexcused if they are absent that day or check out before early release. Daycare programs will be cancelled.

Additionally, all extra-curricular activities scheduled for after 4 p.m. will take place.

The release schedule is as follows:

Jones County Pre K         11:15 AM

Elementary Schools         11:30 AM

JCHS NGC                       11:55 AM

JCHS Main Campus        12:05 PM, car riders at noon

CRMS/GSMS                   12:20 PM
