Monroe County schools to release early on day of solar eclipse

Monroe County Schools announced that it will dismiss all schools early on Monday, August 21 due to the solar eclipse. 

A news release says the decision was made with concerns about students' eye safety.

The new release times that day will be:

MPHS Freshman Campus/MCAC 11:35 a.m. (bus riders), 11:35 a.m. (car riders)

MPHS Main Campus 11:45 a.m. (bus riders), 11:45 a.m. (car riders)

MCMS- Banks Stephens Campus 12:00 p.m. (bus riders), 11:50 a.m. (car riders)

MCMS- Hubbard Campus 11:45 a.m. (bus riders), 11:45 a.m. (car riders)

Elementary Schools 12:15 p.m. (bus riders), 12:00 p.m. (car riders)

All extra-curricular activities scheduled for this date after 4 p.m. will proceed as scheduled. After school programs at each elementary school will be canceled.
