For Jessica Price, teaching Language Arts and Social Studies involves more than just maps and papers.

Kver Shannon, a sixth grader at Banks Stephens Middle School, says, "We get to get in groups and play with the iPods and the iPads."

Laughter usually fills the air in Ms. Price's classroom, and she's even known to bust a move during some of her lessons.

Some of her students, like Laila Bell, say Ms. Price also has a serious side.

Bell says, "I was having a hard time in Social Studies, and she made me flashcards to study every night."

Price wants her students to know she is always there to help. She says, "I want them to feel free to come talk to me about the good, the bad. I want them to learn, but I also want them to know there's somebody who cares for them."

In her nomination letter, Bell wrote, "Her students would say she deserves to be the toppest teacher in the world. She's smart, funny, pretty, and awesome."

Price says she wants her students to enjoy learning as much as she enjoys teaching.
