ATLANTA (AP) -- Emory University will celebrate its 175th anniversary with a special convocation on the Atlanta campus.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Memorial Auditorium to honor 100 of Emory's "history makers" or their descendants. The list includes former U.S. Sen. Max Cleland, United Negro College Fund CEO Michael Lomax and Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

It also includes former Sears CEO Emory Williams, who is 100 and graduated from the private college in 1932, and descendants of Catherine Andrew Boyd, a slave owned by the chairman of Emory's first board of trustees.

The list contains many names that appear on Emory buildings and landmarks.
