ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Atlanta has been rated the fourth "most literate" city in the nation, according to an annual survey released Wednesday.
The survey, compiled by Central Connecticut State University President Jack Miller, is compiled and based on information that includes the number of bookstores, library resources, newspaper circulation and Internet resources.
Miller says that there is no real correlation between income and literacy, pointing out that Cleveland is among the lowest cities in the nation in terms of income, but ranked much higher for its library and other resources, bringing to number 13 on the list nationally. In comparison, Anchorage is rated fifth in terms of median family income, but only 61st in terms of literacy.
