Next Tuesday, Warner Robins voters elect three council members.
Incumbent John Williams, Mike Davis and Neal Erwin are running for the Post 6 council seat.
13WMAZ interviewed the Post 2 and Post 4 candidates in the past few weeks.
Erwin did not return calls or a visit to his home to schedule an interview with 13WMAZ.
Retired Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Warner Robins Mike Davis says he is running for council to help get city projects finished.
Davis said, "We have had several projects, none of them have been completed. You can start with the law enforcement center." He also listed a city sports complex and the relocation of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau. It is located on Watson Boulevard at the old train depot, but city leaders have said it will be moved to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Parkway along I-75.
Williams says council is working on completing the projects and making progress. He says voters should re-elect him, because of his knowledge of the projects and how to get them done at a low cost.
The retired developer says other candidates shouldn't promise faster results.
He said, "When they say I'm going to do all this, they don't have a clue what they're talking about."
He says he knows how to help people with problems, saying he's worked 24-7 since elected four years ago. Williams said, "A lot of times, you step on people's toes when you do that, when you get stuff done. I'm a doer, a get-her-done guy."
He says he's made a few people mad in the process, and blames that for his legal troubles. He would not explain the statement in detail, but said "the truth" will come out at his trials.
Williams is faced with a few criminal charges in federal court for allegedly trying to profit off the purchase of a city truck. He is facing another in Superior Court for allegedly lying to police about a stolen city cell phone.
He was late to 13WMAZ's interview Monday, because of a court appearance in the case. It is scheduled to begin next Monday; the date before election day.
Williams said, "I assure you when all of this comes out, the controversy stops, and you'll see what's behind the controversy and what's behind it will go away. We'll have a clean city, and won't have the problems we have had in the past."
Davis says electing him will end the problems now. He said, "The top priority is to get Warner Robins off the front page, as far as being negative. We have got to do what's right for Robins Air Force Base. I think making headlines in a negative light is not helping us with Robins Air Force Base."
Williams says he's not pleased with the city's recent tax increase and believes more cuts to the budget should have been made. He said, "We are doing fine, but there is room for improvement, because I don't feel like we needed to make a tax increase. I think there is cuts we can take from the top, and adjustments we can make from our budget."
Davis says he is happy with the city finances and believes taxpayers are paying a fair amount for quality services. He said, "Considering we have one of the top notch police departments, fire departments, my water, sewer, sanitation. Everything I get for what I pay, that's the best bargain in town."
The election is Tuesday, November 8th. Early voting is underway now and lasts through Friday.
