There's now a third candidate for Bibb County sheriff.
He's Bill Lucas, who also ran for the job in 2008 and lost to Sheriff Jerry Modena.
Lucas told 13WMAZ's Randall Savage that he'll make his official announcement next Thursday, Jan. 26.
He is a retired manager in the state Department of Corrections.
Also running are David Davis, currently the chief deputy for Bibb County, and Albert Hall, a retired captain in the sheriff's department.
All three men are Democrats. Sheriff Modena says he'll retire this year after three terms.
The Democratic primary will be held July 31.
