Shaheen, Chalk in Runoff for Warner Robins Mayor

The election for Mayor of Warner Robins is headed to a runoff between Chuck Shaheen and Chuck Chalk.

 

With all the votes counted, Shaheen has 2,269 votes, 38 percent; Chalk, 1941, 33 percent; and Clifford Holmes 1,724, 29 percent.

 

Since no candidate got a majority, the runoff is scheduled for Dec. 1

 

Mayor Donald Walker was running for re-election when he died in an apparent suicide on Sept. 28th.

Central Georgians today voted on mayors, city council members, a state representative and on sales-tax questions.

Houston County election superintendent Vida Rawls said turnout was steady and the vote went smoothly.

Mike Daley and Linda Carnes are also in a runoff for the Post 1 city council seat.

Daly had 1,706 votes, 31 percent; Carnes had 1,324, 24 percent; followed by Doug McDowll, 1,087 and 19 percent; Art Howard, 922 and 16 percent; and Jeffery Walker, 425 votes and 7 percent.

In Post 3, James "Paul" Shealy beat Dean Cowart. Shealy had 826 votes and 52 percent; Cowart had 739 and 48 percent.
