REPORT: NBC set to revive The Office in 2018

According to a report from TVLine, NBC is set to revive The Office for the 2018-2019 TV season.

The report says that the revival would be a mix of old and new cast members set in the familiar Dunder-Mifflin offices in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

While there were no details given about which familiar cast members would be involved, you can get a pretty good idea of who won’t be coming back if you watched the show.

Steve Carell, Mindy Kaling, and B.J. Novak left before the series wrapped. John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer’s characters moved away along with Craig Robinson. And several other characters had their stories conclude in a way that suggests that they’re unlikely to return.

So it will be interesting to see who returns and in what role.

The story on TVLine.com says that the network is currently looking for a new regional manager, meaning that it’s unlikely that Rainn Wilson or Angela Kinsey return.

Personally, I’d like to see Ellie Kemper’s Erin come back, but as regional manager. Kemper’s more than capable of carrying her own show as she’s shown on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and her managing style seems like it would be similar to Michael Scott.

But so far, all we know is that NBC is taking the first steps to bringing the show back, no doubt encouraged by the critical and financial success of the revival of Will and Grace.
