WAYNESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a civilian reserve officer for the Waynesboro Police Department has been killed in a collision with a logging truck.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that 65-year-old Raymond Bosher was driving on Drone Road when he turned left on Georgia Highway 24 into the path of an 18-wheeler logging truck.

Waynesboro Police Chief Alfonzo Williams says the accident occurred around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Bosher was a retired Springfield, S.C., police chief.

He joined the Waynesboro police as a reserve officer in 2008 and worked as a gunsmith for the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
